Deep
Fork Audubon meeting
minutes, 27 January 2015
Recorded
by Deane Carlberg
Attending were Deane Carlberg, Rebecca Carlberg, and Donald Winslow
We had a short and sweet meeting tonight at the Shawnee Library.
1. Pocket Prairie Project: We have a grant from the National Audubon Society for $699.00. In the application process, we pledged $400.00 toward the project. A motion was made, seconded, and passed to allow the use of $400.00 for the Pocket Prairie Project. The city has been contacted for their assistance, and I need to get final costs of the fencing material.
2. Outing: It is time for the annual American Woodcock or timberdoodle hunt. We are going to try again at the Sacred Heart land located in southern Pottawatomie county. A few years ago, we were successful in locating snickerdoodles, and on the way back what sounded like a mountain lion. Exciting!! We decided to try again the last week of February. So look at your calendars for the best evening..Tuesday the 24th, Thursday the 26th, or Saturday the 28th, time to be determined because the woodcock does it mating dance just before dusk.
That's all for now...let me know if and when you want to snickerdoodle.
