Last night at dusk Karen and Forest and I arrived at Lake Tecumseh after eating at Bamboo Garden Restaurant. There were many Canada Geese congregating on the lake and there were some large shorebirds flying around. There were two sizes. Some of the calls sounded like Greater Yellowlegs. Perhaps the smaller ones were Lesser Yellowlegs. There were also some gulls on the far shore, but it was too dark to identify them.
We went back to Lake Tecumseh late this morning, hoping to see the shorebirds. The only shorebird we saw today was one Killdeer. The geese and the gulls were also gone. We did see 2 Great Blue Herons, 1 Great Egret, 1 Northern Harrier, 2 Red-shouldered Hawks, and some songbirds.
